Greg Marinan
Greg is an artist living in Ōtautahi Christchurch. With a strong background in trade and production, he brings a fresh perspective to his artwork, blending technical expertise with creative expression. Greg’s artistic journey is guided by his hands-on experience in various trades, including upholstery, spray painting and woodworking. These help to provide him a base understanding of the materials he chooses to construct his art with. Craftmanship and attention to detail are evident as he draws inspiration from the precision and functionality of the trades, and his work explores the intersection of art and industry.
In his earlier artistic years, Greg’s work was a diverse exploration of graphic art styles, heavily textured pieces, and digitally printed glass. Then, with a simple request for a commissioned piece in 2022, he started a journey into a more refined, subtle and deliberate use of texture. Working primarily in acrylic on linen and canvas, his use of textured surfaces and reflecting light often create visually striking pieces that invite the viewer to engage with both the artistry and the craftsmanship behind them. Greg hopes you will find his pieces both beautiful and thought provoking.
