Cindy King

“I have a strong pull towards the conservation of our natural world. The future of our children and our planet depends on a balanced approach with man co-existing harmoniously with nature".

From her home-based studio in Timaru, New Zealand, Cindy King paints poignant portraits and metaphorical, abstract works. She is inspired by nature and the future generations who will become its caretakers.

Born in Auckland in 1958 into a large family who migrated south and settled in Timaru in 1970. She grew up, worked, married and raised her children in the peaceful township.

Cindy started painting in 2007 after enrolling at the Aoraki Polytechnic, Timaru. Completing, with distinction, her Dip in Fine Art level 6 in 2009. She has exhibited nationally and her work is held in the collection of the Aigantighe Art Gallery, as well as private collections nationwide.
