Amy Houston

Amy Houston is a British born artist now living and working in Taranaki. Amy’s practice has been through many evolutions since her time studying fine art at Falmouth University in Cornwall, U.K. but some common themes can be found throughout these works. Subject matter is less important than the depth and texture of colour that can be found in any image or scene. Cass Station (2021), as seen here is a perfect example of that. After being inspired by, Rita Angus’ oil painting of Cass, it was a must stop while backpacking around the South Island in 2019. Now, with art back in Amy’s life after a hiatus to travel, here is her love letter to this Canterbury icon.
